Hi friends!
Today, we're welcoming someone whose path I’ve crossed thanks to the magic of music – even though we haven’t met in person just yet. He’s a solid example of how it’s done in the underground: putting out soulful deep house tracks, playing eclectic DJ sets, throwing dope parties, and always showing love to his Caribbean roots with pride.
This month’s Guest Selector is:
Giancarlo Puigbó
Giancarlo Puigbó is a DJ/Producer from the Dominican Republic, now based in Barcelona. His sets blend house and techno rooted in the spirit of Chicago and Detroit, where rhythm is the message. He moves naturally through soul, funk, disco, and deep, hypnotic grooves – always led by feeling, never trends.
He’s part of Subcultura, a Dominican-rooted collective committed to shifting energy, honoring roots, and moving against the current with purpose.

Enjoy his curated picks for the week:
Suite Folclórica - Luis Días (N/A, 2010)
#Folk #Latin #Afro-Caribbean
Giancarlo: If I had to start somewhere, I got to go to my roots – the foundations, the Caribbean. And there’s no better place to start than with Luis "El Terror" Días, this track is one of my favourites from him. I love how he is conjuring and blending folkloric elements unafraid to explore form, letting culture speak without compromise. Luis Días stood unshaken in his truth, blending rock with palo, jazz with gagá never conforming to trends or chasing fame. In our country, he’s overlooked, maybe for being too complex. For those of us reconnecting and pushing sound forward, Luis is a giant.
El Sur - Joan Bibiloni (Music From Memory, 2014)
#Jazz Fusion #Boogie #Ambient
Giancarlo: I first heard “Sa Fosca“ thanks to the one and only Enrico Crivellaro aka Volcov, in one of his unforgettable “From the Archive” mixes. Ever since, this LP been sitting on my wantlist - and this week, I finally got my hands on it. A compilation by Music From Memory, this album has some of the best tracks from Joan Bibiloni, so much variety from jazz, funk to ambient and boogie an impressive collection of music. Rest in power Jamie Tiller, thanks for digging deep and giving light to the overlooked under MFM, your legacy keeps inspiring.
Moriviví - Isaac Hernández (Isaac Hernández, 2018)
#Jazz #Latin #Palo
Giancarlo: Honestly, I have no clue how I came across this one – maybe it found me. But the moment I saw “Moriviví,” I had to check who this guy was, and of course, he’s Dominican! Moriviví is a plant that reminds me so much of my childhood, touching them and watching them fold and then come back to life. Resilience in its purest form, and this record lives up to its name. It folds and unfolds at its own pace, delicate, fragile, but alive. A perfect track for that morning coffee, that moment of just being and feeling.
Shadows From Nowhere (Danilo Braca ReVision) - Blue Gas (S.P.Q.R. / Best Record Italy, 2019)
#Italo-Disco #Downtempo
Giancarlo: This one is a call for summer, it's crazy how a record can take you to certain places and moments. This groove mirrors home for me, back to the south of my island, my escape. After some research about Danilo I found that he lives in NY but frequents Ibiza a lot and you can definitely hear that inspiration in the track. The backbone of the city and the Balearic ease of the island lifting that rhythm into something more fluid, more felt. 9 minutes of pure, patient bliss.
The Bottle - Gil Scott-Heron & Brian Jackson (Strata-East Records, 1974)
#Soul #Funk
Giancarlo: Back in December, I came across the repress of the Gil Scott-Heron & Brian Jackson Anthology. Messages, and I just had to treat myself to that. I’ve always loved Gil, but this song hits different right now. It mirrors where I’m at—big changes, reflection, and stepping into something new. It carries the weight of the past but feels full of possibility. Can’t wait to drop this mid-set one of these days, has that incredible energy that is a total direction changer.
Dudier: The artwork featured is from the compilation mentioned Gil Scott-Heron & Brian Jackson Anthology. Messages.
That’s all for this week. I hope you enjoyed the selections.
Have a great weekend!
Stay groovy,
Dudier
