Hi friends!
October kicks off with plenty of sunshine in Madrid, and this month’s Guest Selections are the perfect match for this amazing weather. Today, we’re joined by a vibrant Skopje-based DJ, digger, and promoter.
This month’s Guest Selector is:

Bojan Janev’s, a.k.a. Soul Case, projects Oubli and Amok Radio have quickly gained recognition both locally and internationally, offering a refreshing change to the scene. With performances spanning the US, Mexico, Asia, and Europe, Soul Case has also been featured on platforms like HÖR, Worldwide FM, The Lot Radio, and Fauve Radio. Alongside Aceedo from Oubli, he runs the YouTube channel 50eurogigs, where they upload rare and under-the-radar tracks in a fun and irreverent style.

Enjoy his curated picks for the week:
Love Situation - Isabel Roberts (Hot Vinyl, 1986)
#Funk
Soul Case: For my first pick, I chose a record that has been on my wantlist for a long time and quite recently finally got a hold of the original one from ‘86. For me it really gets close to perfection, as it has all the elements that make me fall in love with a record. From a warm and funky bassline, to the subtle guitar played on a higher octave, the soulful vocals - it just gets me in a state of certain emotions and really touches me. Isabel Roberts has had a couple of releases in the second half of the 80s and every single one of them is on point.
Reaching Out - Olu (10 Records, 1992)
#House #Street Soul #Downtempo
Soul Case: One album that I have really been playing on repeat in the last period is Olu Rowe’s - Reaching Out. His work will probably ring a bell for fans of UK house and street soul, even though most of his work sits around the house spectrum, this album features 10 tracks that really make it hard to pick a favorite. The album is a fantastic blend of house, street soul, downtempo and soul. Powerful vocals, soulful melodies - just proper, feel good, music straight from the heart.

Ron Trent Presents Prescription (Word, Sound And Power) - VA (Prescription / Rush Hour, 2017)
#Deep House #House
Soul Case: I recently just got back to this legendary compilation, capturing the essence of house music. Just a perfect blend of Detroit, Chicago and New York by one of the greatest artists in house music to ever do it. While it certainly isn’t the most unknown or rare piece of music that got out, it’s just a staple for every fan of house music - or in my opinion, at least it should be. It’s music that certainly stands against the test of time.
Boneca De Fogo (Memê Dance Mix) - As Sublimes (Columbia, 1993)
#R&B #New Jack Swing
Soul Case: Another track that really has a special place in my heart is Boneca De Fogo by As Sublimes. Blissful chords, bouncy and warm bassline, emotional vocals in probably my favorite language even though I don’t understand more than 2 words. I played this at the Lot Radio in New York and whenever I hear it I immediately get transported back to Brooklyn. It’s the true power of music to get you back to a certain place or time in your life and this one just gets it right for me.
MDC.283 Mirren - Mirren (2023)
#Downtempo #Hip Hop #World #Street Soul #G-Funk
Soul Case: For my last pick I chose a mix from Mirren for Melbourne Deepcast. It features a lot of long time favorites, a Funky G track, and much much more. I have been blasting this mix with my closest friends last summer on repeat and occasionally we still get back to it!
That’s all for this week. I hope you liked the selections :D
Stay groovy,
Dudier
