Hi friends!
February’s Guest Selector brings us a vibrant mix from one of the most exciting DJs in the French scene. Originally from Brazil, this talented DJ and producer has become a key figure in Lyon’s electronic music community.
He’s not just an amazing selector—his refined mixing technique sets him apart. A true maestro of the crossfader, he brings a level of skill and precision that’s rare in our usual electronic music landscape.
This month’s Guest Selector is:
Pedro Bertho
Pedro is known for blending Black music rhythms with global influences in his dynamic sets and productions. With roots deeply embedded in Brazil, his sound effortlessly moves between club beats and sun-kissed grooves, exploring contrasts that tell unique stories. A key figure in Lyon’s electronic scene, Pedro co-founded the Furie label and holds a residency at Le Sucre. His music has graced labels like Cracki, Hell Yeah, and Fauve Records. He has performed alongside Laurent Garnier, Blessed Madonna, Bonobo, and more, with support from artists like Massimiliano Pagliara and Badsista. Beyond performing globally, Pedro co-founded a program empowering underrepresented people in music production and DJing across several countries.

Enjoy his curated picks for the week:
Nailé - Danyèl Waro (Cobalt, 2006)
#Maloya
Pedro: Because every time I listen to it and play it, I cry.
Danyèl Waro is a hero, a defender of Maloya music. His music and his voice always transport me to a place greater than myself. Right now, I’m writing this while listening to this song.
Well, I can say that my eyes are filled with tears. Long live Danyèl and Réunion Island!
Reggae is Here Once Again - Steel an' Skin (EM Records, 2008)
#Steel Band #Dub #Soca #Roots Reggae
Pedro: I still remember the first time I listened to this record. I was digging for records in a shop in Berlin when this one started playing. It hit me so hard. It feels like the sound of the sun to me.
It became one of my favorite closing tracks ever. It’s dub, reggae, calypso, Black… even punk in a way.
Why Did You Do It - Margaret Singana (Casablanca, 1976)
#Soul #Disco
Pedro: Well, whenever I’m down, I play this song. It kind of lifts me up.
It feels like healing from a broken relationship… but with myself.
So, whenever you’re feeling down and need to let it out, you can listen to this record.
Thank you, Margareth, for pouring your soul into this song.
Mãe Preta - Grupo Afro-Sul (Selo Do Artista, 1988)
#Afoxé #Reggae
Pedro: This is the kind of Brazilian record that, unfortunately, not everyone will listen to. Lost in its time, this record is amazing. The lyrics speak about the pride of being Black, while the instrumentation is simply insane—blending reggae, jazz, and afoxé. A complex yet simple and powerful Brazilian song.
Fulaninha (Da Lata Remix) - Luisa Maita (Cumbancha Discovery, 2010)
#Broken Beat #Samba
Pedro: Okay, I’m cheating a bit here with this one. Luisa Maita is one of my favorite voices in Brazilian music, especially for her lyrics. There’s so much soul in her work. I’ve already spoken about this record in other interviews/channels, which is why I’m sharing the remix version here—it’s also amazing. So yes, go listen to both of them.
That’s all for this week. I hope you enjoyed the selections.
Have a great weekend!
Stay groovy,
Dudier
